Students of Raquel Payá are trained to work in restaurants and hotels

23 2018 April - 07: 59

Lucia, Aroa, Xavi, Jose and José Luis are learning a trade. They are training in restoration to be able to work once they finish their studies. It could be the usual story of young people wanting to work, but theirs is a special story, because they are special ... and very capable of working.

They are the students that make up the restoration training cycle that the Raquel Payá special education school has implemented this year. Thanks to their trainer, Juan Cervera, they learn during the morning the aspects most related to the profession, and in the afternoon, they focus on subjects such as mathematics or language.

It is the first time that the Raquel Payá school implements this type of training, which aims to facilitate the transition of their students to adult life, since in the center can be up to 21 years. A training that includes many hours of practice both in the center and in the IES María Ibars facilities.

At school, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, they offer bar service at the time of the playground to students and teachers. José Luis takes note of the orders; Xavi takes care of the cafes; Jose serves the juices and shakes with Lucía's help, and Aroa takes charge. All in a team, and very coordinated.

They will be two years of training, which will include internships in real companies and a trip that is part of the Erasmus + program that will allow them to live an unforgettable experience in Finland. This time at school they take care of them, teach them, protect them ... and prepare them for their future, a future that is not at odds with paid work that they can perform perfectly. This will be transmitted to the businessmen of the hospitality of Dénia and the region in meetings that will be scheduled soon to present the project.

Dénia.com colleagues had the opportunity to see them work live and direct just a few days ago. The seriousness in the work, the concentration, the companionship and also the laughter were the most outstanding notes of an endearing morning that we will repeat.
