Alert against low rates of papillomavirus vaccine coverage in the Marina Alta

Health authorities warn of the low rates of coverage of the papillomavirus vaccine among children under 12 years, with an 56%, compared to 67% of the Valencian average. This is the most worrying fact that is extracted after the II Immunization Day in the Department of Health of Denia.

The percentage of vaccination among health personnel, with more than 70% coverage, stands out; much higher than the average of health departments of the Valencian Community, with just over 48%. The rest of the indicators of coverage of childhood vaccination - polio, triple virus, pneumococcus, diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis - and influenza in the 64 years are very similar to the rest of the health departments of the Valencian Community.

The presentation of the day has been carried out by the Manager of the Department, Luis Carretero and the Director of the public health centerPascual Marti.

Pascual Martí has ​​had words of thanks to the participants and organizers of the Day. He also recalled the importance of vaccination, while emphasizing the need to improve the coverage of papilloma and flu in this year's 64 years.

For his part, the Department Manager, Luis Carretero has highlighted "the importance of professional meetings like this one, in which the truth is reinforced to the detriment of the post-truth so widespread now in social networks against vaccines. Opinions without scientific evidence that put the health of children at risk, of immunosuppressed people and even entire communities".

The meeting started with the presentation of the new calendar of adult vaccination in the Valencian Community, by José Antonio Lluch, Head of Service of Promotion and Prevention in the stages of life - Directorate General of Public Health. Mara Garcés, a pediatrician and researcher at the FISABIO Vaccine Area, then exposed a general vaccination situation at all ages.

Antonio Valdivia, Head of the Preventive Medicine Service of the Department of Health of Denia, explained the strategies for the active search and recruitment of immunosuppressed patients. Then Alejandro Cremades, Nurse of the Elda Public Health Center, talked about the role of nursing professionals in recommending vaccines.

The Seminar ended with the talk of the pharmacist Ondara, Fernando Mud, on the importance of the collaboration of pharmacy offices in raising awareness of the population on vaccination campaigns.
