History
With over 2.000 years of history, the port of Dénia has a great historical importance due to its strategic location, being the closest to the mainland to the Balearic Islands.
At the time of Sertorio, s. I a. C., was naval base, port and supply camp. Years later, with the birth of the Taifa of Daniya in 1015, the great naval fleet of the king of the Taifa he departed from here to begin the conquest of the Balearic Islands and Sardinia.
Important center of maritime traffic until the arrival of Christians in 1244, the port of Denia has a commercial and pirate past that would make him the S. XV in a nest of corsairs. In 1609 it became the main port of banishment of the Moors, reaching great military importance and status as a port during this century.
