The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has officially announced this afternoon the advancement of the regional elections to next Sunday, April 28, thus making the electoral appointment coincide with the general elections called by Pedro Sánchez.

In this sense, Puig has announced his decision to use the «herramienta» that grants the Statute to claim «los derechos que por justicia nos pertenecen y el lugar en España que como pueblo nos corresponde».
Con esta decisión, que ya ha comunicado al presidente de les Corts, Enric Morera y al presidente del Gobierno de España, Pedro Sánchez, el jefe del Consell se convierte en el primer president en ejercer esta competencia reservada a las comunidades históricas, y que permite el Estatut d’Autonomia.
