2% of young people between 9 and 12 years of age declare that they consume alcohol regularly on weekends

The NGO Controla Club presented yesterday the results of a psychosocial study on the first alcohol consumption among adolescents in Dénia. The bell Alcohol can wait 2012 He conducted 492 surveys among young people of 12 and 13 years.

Among the main conclusions of the study, Gabriel Tejerina, coordinator of Controla Club, highlighted that the majority of the students surveyed declare that they spend their leisure time reading, watching television or listening to music. The 39'6% states that none of their friends consume alcohol, an 26'1% recognizes that less than half of their friends consume and an 19% states that more than half of their friends are regular consumers.

Campaign of prevention of addictions in Dénia

Regarding alcohol consumption habits, the fact that one 30'4% of respondents says they have never tried it and another 30'4% acknowledges having tried it once but does not consume it today. Only one 2'9% has declared to consume alcohol every weekend. The 36'3% recognizes that they have ever gone to the bottle and among those who have done so, the 28'5% says they consume alcohol whenever they attend these meetings.

The next year the campaign will be developed again in the seven secondary schools in the city with the aim of transmitting messages and arguments to adolescents capable of reinforcing the “no” to the first alcohol consumption.

Addiction prevention campaigns this summer

This summer, again, Controla Club and the City Council of Dénia have scheduled six addiction prevention campaigns that will take to the streets to raise awareness among the youngest.
