The fifth stage of the Volta a la Marina cycling left us a change of leader. After the timing of Dénia, Sergio Torres is the new leader, since the one who took the jersey to this stage, Aitor Escobar, arrived late to the signature of participants of the Dianense stage.
After long discussions between the cyclist and his team with the judges of the test, Escobar was sanctioned with 4 minutes and having to leave the first time of the chronoscalada. The cyclist denied this solution and chose to leave the Volta.
The fastest cyclist was Mario García from the DAMA Supplies training, which invested a time of 5.05. The second place went to his teammate, Moisés Espinós. While Sergio Torres, of the Velosol team, was third with a time of 5.07.
Note that 83 cyclists took the exit from the ramp that was located in Baleària Port. Highlight the great organization that the Club Ciclista Dénia carried out, with the invaluable collaboration of the Local Police, Civil Protection, Miracels group that with their bikes performed a commendable task and the volunteers who controlled the passage of cyclists giving much security to the test.
During the tour, but especially in the area of the neighborhood of Roques, a large audience took to the streets to encourage participants. A test that proved a success and was liked by most cyclists.
The general classification, in the absence of 3 stages, is headed by the cyclist of Gata de Gorgos, Sergio Torres, with 4 seconds of advantage over Moisés Espinós. Third place goes to Mario García at 17 seconds.
This makes the emotion maximum for the next stages. The first of them will be this Sunday in Benidorm, with a completely new tour with respect to past editions. With departure and arrival at Avda Vicente Llorca Alòs, this edition has the double ascent to the Port of 2nd Category, Alto de Finestrat. The route initially exceeds the population of Orxeta to later make two full laps in Finestrat before facing the final in descent towards the goal.
