The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, announced that it has asked the Minister of Universal Health and Public Health, Carmen Montón, and the Minister of Finance and the Economic Model, Vicent Soler, to "initiate discussions with the company DKV to achieve, within a reasonable period of time, the reversal"from the Department of Health of Dénia-La Marina to the public system.
Ximo Puig, who made these statements during his visit to the municipality of Pedreguer, considers it essential that, in the negotiations that will begin in April, prime the "general interest of the Valencian"."There are already formally open negotiations because we think it is necessary to rehabilitate the entire public health service in the region of La Marina", he has indicated.
The President indicated that in this department "It has become more evident that privatization has not worked"and has been in favor of finding one"reasonable and fundable formulates"by the Generalitat, which defends a"universal public health model"throughout the Community.
At the same time, the President made it clear that "it does not mean that we are against private health, but we think that there has to be a public sector and a private sector"and, in any case, from the Generalitat, it must be guaranteed that"all citizens are equal before the disease and are treated equally".
Likewise, Ximo Puig stressed that there is "a deficit in infrastructure in the local area of La Marina because it is a region in which, increasingly, more people from outside who have to be served there, although not enumerated, and this entails an expenditure that the State failed us pay and necessarily has a derivative, which is to have a fair funding for Valencia".
The President of the Consell also referred to the meeting he had with members of the Platform for the Defense of Public Health of the Marina Alta, who waited for him to request the start-up of the new Pedreguer health center and stressed that they are demanding "what is right, which it is to have a health center conditions".
