CD review KiteSurf Dénia: Good riddance to Oliva!

May 22 from 2015 - 00: 00

Someone could say that the mayor of our city allowed herself the luxury of saying these words minutes before starting the Municipal Plenary of the month of April. He could barely conceal his anger at the presence of a large group of people interested in knowing if a motion regarding the ratification of the agreement with the Kitesurf Club Dénia, previously approved by a majority of votes, was going to be discussed.

People praticando kite surf on a beach in Dénia

The issue of ratification of the Convention was not finally discussed in plenary session in April. We went home with the promise of an extraordinary plenary session before 10 days and in any case before the municipal elections.

It seems that we have become a problem, when precisely what we offer is a solution, to provide physical and legal security to both kitesurfers and bathers.

Evidently they have passed the full 10 days and that has not occurred.

If we recall, in August last year the swift and unhesitating decision was made to close the kite area located on the edge of the municipal area next to the river Molins. Days later, by the Dénia Kitesurfing Club, an authorized gathering was called that brought together a large crowd of kitesurfing fans, something historic in this country.

After the merger, the mayor received our representatives and promised to find a solution to the situation before the end of the year.

We should clarify that was not banned kitesurfing, only the restricted area was closed, the navigation channel and informational posters were removed, so that instead of solving the alleged problem grew, as the sailors were concentrated in the two other channels located just over three hundred meters, greatly increasing the presence of sailors at the same point of the beach.

Does the alleged failure to ensure security through the local police in the kite zone, did not take place just three hundred meters away with two navigation channels and packed with sailors?

They ask them who we are entrepreneurs, workers, unemployed and students. Neighbors and residents, nationals and foreigners, citizens with a voice that share a passion and a lifestyle.

At the gates of the season, we continue to expect an answer. The last thing you have told us is that Harbourmaster has recently published a regulation which requires that the security of the area is in charge of City Hall. Well, do it. We are primarily interested in the area to monitor and penalize offenders where sailing is not allowed.

Mayoress, please send us NOT TAKE ... Oliva winds.

We live in Dénia, Dénia want to navigate. If not regulate an area, it is possible that kiters sea access from anywhere on the beach, without control, with the risks involved.

In Denia we have already held three editions of the last race of the National Championship in Kiteboarding Race mode, and has promoted the name of the city nationally and internationally. Are you aware of how much to stimulate the commercial, hospitality and hotel fabric presence of these visitors?

Denia beach has 17 Km., 150 meters allow us to access the sea. Ratify the agreement that was adopted in plenary February with the amendments it considers relevant, but not end the legislature leaving no area.

I doubt that made such a comment. I have friends who live in that area and has long been denouncing the issue. Why? Very simple: they can not swim at the beach. The problem is not the professional or you can do that sport. The problem is who can not practice it. Now the channel input and output expands. Just where is it? For in the housing.
Tourism had long asking to be taken into account. The former councilwoman, Pepa Font, listened and closing the beach this practice was decreed. Then, she contradicted himself and approved the motion presented by the PSOE. A fierce girl. Or rather, a policy that as the wind says one thing or another.
But worst of all is that approved that agreement without having all the necessary reports.
Total, that now that Mr. Grimalt enters as mayor, the injured will be the neighbors.

  2. José Pérez says:

We already had an area for Kite practice and they took it away because of the pirate schools that were teaching illegally in the same area of practice. Anyway I think the city should put measures to prevent this from happening again and that illegal schools become aware that they harm us and endanger Kite practitioners with their inexperienced students in areas not equipped for teaching.

    Hello everyone,

As a local business With plenty of foreign tourists, I must insist Denia That is recieving a very unhealthy reputation as regards to ITS watersports culture.

Is embarassing to Have to Explain why the Police and Town Hall can never organize the naked kitesurfing zone. In Addition, ITS ludicrous That the town hall can not conceive That the profitability lies in the sports sector and how much you are generating from sports tourism.

I must say That the local government really miss out the on the Importance of the beach culture and lifestyle.

Its very sad indeed esta That OCCURS every year, and no one has the intelligence and interest to solve this issue.

  4. José Vte gonzalez says:

Well, as a care for this city, if the mayor has said that, I think it is a rather unfortunate expression, perhaps from past regimes…. If you don't like what there is… Well, let them go… ..we are in a democracy, she is mayor thanks to that, and speaking things are solved… There is a beach for everyone
