The Multiesport.UCMontgó leads the 'Volta to the Navy by teams

February 26 from 2018 - 08: 01

The Multiesport-UCMontgó team came out very strongly from the stage held in Villajoyosa, corresponding to the "Volta Ciclista a la Marina". It was without a doubt the queen stage since from the first meter it was prevented that the riders of the Zappi Racing Team would try to repeat the script of the Benidorm stage. It was partially with the early escape of Fergus Robinson, of his runners who together with Álvaro Arenas (Constructions Encacon) manufactured, both alone, the flight of the day traveling both for many kilometers alone.

Out the pace was incessant and only with the arrival of the peloton to Finestrat and there were runners out of race to which they joined many others before the arrival in the town of Relleu.

The port was upgraded by classic mountain road twice, the first being at a more lively, constant and incessant pace that deteriorated a platoon that seemed to maintain continuity. It was linked with a frantic descent in which cuts were made without transcendence, regrouping the platoon again before crossing to the access road of Relleu. The escapees despite the devilish rhythm of the main squad were increasing their differences.

The second ascent to the port detonated more if it fits to the group clearly delimiting to the "Platon of the impossible ones" between which they were the corridors of the Multiesport-UCMontgó, Thomas Scheffer, Dani Plaza and Javier Almela. Behind them Xexo García gave way in the last meters in the final part of the ascent accusing the hard stage of de Villena, belonging to the Interclubs of the Vinalopo and that despite this he managed to reach the goal alone.

The second descent divided the squad, forming a break of four runners at a frenetic pace to which Thomas Scheffer tried to join without result but he managed to make progress on the peloton near the 10 seconds.

Triumph for Pedro José López

The men of the Zappi together with an intractable Pedro José López consolidated in the second descent the escape with which they managed to neutralize Arenas and his excursion companion, also getting Pedro José to win the stage victory in the sprint end of goal.

After the meritorious advantage of both leaks and Arenas as a theoretical virtual leader, the squad was dedicated to roll without falling asleep, not allowing any new escape attempt planning the arrival to the finish line where a frantic contest was held sprint in which Javier Almela managed to cross the goal arch in 11ª General Position and 3ª position Master 30 after Rafa Miravalles and Vicent Pla.

From this stage only regret an unfortunate fall suffered by Francesc Llinares without serious consequences, to which we wish him a speedy recovery.

The bizarre scoring system of the Volta La Marina position as leader of the general classification to Antonio Sabater (Cycles Sabater) tied in time with Alvaro Arenas despite the fact that after the last two stages the latter has proved to be the strongest man in the Volta.

In the Team standings the Multiesport-UCMontgó was second in the stage tied this time in time with the Vito-Gsport Cycling Team, having only ahead as not the Zappi Racing Team, noting that these teams have been the only three that managed to score in the hard race.

Thanks to the work and continuity of its runners led by the Team Manager, Ángel Camarena and the mechanic José Plaza, they are the only training, of those registered in The Volta the Navy that has managed to finish all the stages, so they are virtual leaders of this edition of the Volta.

The Dianense team had the pleasant visit of illustrious veteran members and unconditional supporters of the club; Miguel Crespo, Miguel Camarón and Emilio Calero who were encouraged throughout the tour.
