02 2024 April - 12: 33

This Tuesday a press conference was held by the Marina de Denia to present the IX Llaüt Mediterrani Liga Suma Regatta – 35th edition of the Virgen de los Desamparados Trophy, which will take place this April. The call was attended by Gabriel Martínez, director of Marina de Dénia, Vanessa Nicolau, treasurer of the Marina Dénia Rowing Club, and Valen Alcala, Sports Councilor.

"This is a classic regatta and very loved by athletes," said Gabriel Martínez, who announced that the competition will be held next Sunday the 14th.

Vanessa Nicolau has reported that the regatta will begin at 9:00 in the morning and can be seen from the Marina Dénia promenade, where the regatta field will be located. The day, in which around 600 to 700 athletes are expected to participate, will end at 14:00 p.m., with the awards ceremony at 15:00 p.m.

Clubs from the Valencian Community will compete, from València to Torrevieja, divided into the Children's, Cadet, Youth, Absolute and Veteran categories, both male and female. The Absolute team will cover a distance of 1.400 meters with three turns, the Youth and Absolute and Cadet, Children and Veterans categories will cover 700 meters with one turn.

"Our goal is to retain the league title, both men's and women's, that's why our training sessions are so intense," commented the treasurer. Another of her hopes is “for good weather,” since in recent years several regattas have had to be suspended due to this setback.

For his part, Valen Alcalà wanted to congratulate the club for its work in betting on nautical sports.

The regatta is organized by the Dénia Marina Rowing Club, with the collaboration of the Dénia City Council and Marina Dénia and the sponsorship of the Fundació Baleària, Pinautics, The Marine, restaurant Mena, Blue Garden Denia, Quique Dacosta Restaurants and Alucardona.
