Maik Dimitrov was the best of the Real Club Náutico Dénia in the '2nd Spanish Kayak Cup'

The young paddler, Maik Dimitrov, of the Real Club Nautico Denia was the best dianenses club representative in the "2ª Spanish Cup of Kayak", held in the waters of Ibiza.

Dimitrov entered the finish line in fifth place in his category, while Toni Gil was tenth after the changes of course. While the veteran, Juan Carlos Pérez Nadal, could not finish the test because of an injury.

The first to take their kayak to the sea were Juan Carlos Pérez Nadal and Toni Gil, with a sea that worsened with the passage of minutes. The intensity of the wind was in increased while the sky threatened rain.

Given this scenario, the organization chose to change the planned route, eliminating 8 kilometers, leaving the race course in a total length of 3,5 kilometers. Toni Gil went out with the other 22 paddlers in K1 of the cadet category, after a hard climb to the beacon due to the strong wind and a considerable swell. With these conditions so adverse, Juan Carlos Pérez Nadal, could not participate since his wrist injury prevented him.

Total change of weather conditions

A day later it was the turn for the youth, among which participated Maik Dimitrov. The day dawned with very good weather conditions, so the organization decided to make an exit "Downwind"From Cala Salada towards Club Náutico de Sant Antoni del Portmany (Ibiza) for a total distance of 12 kilometers.

The Dianense came out in the middle of the youth squad and climbed up to the beacon for once they arrived there, adopting the right course for the downwind, thus obtaining the fifth position in juvenile k1 against a total of 13 paddlers nationwide.
