Escoleta rates will rise between 10 and 55 euros per month

27 2012 April - 00: 00

The April plenary session held yesterday approved with votes in favor of CDL and government team, increasing rates of the Municipal Children's Escoleta, so from now, families will pay 10 euros more per month for each child and an extra 45 euros to use the facilities at 8 9 morning or 17 to 20 hours.

Councilwoman education, Pepa Sivera, defended that the decision comes motivated by the important economic cost that supposes the provision of services in the Municipal Infantile School for the consistory, with a deficit that exceeds the 160.000 euros, but that even then the rates are the lowest in the region and lower also than the rest of day care centers in the city. He also justified the suspension of the public transport service because only one child used it from 8 to 9 in the morning.

Elena Tur, councilor socalista, accused the government team of seeking citizens to finance public services and gave as an example the rise in the prices of Sports Schools or the modification of the conditions for obtaining scholarships for books and dining.

Anyway, the reality is that children who attend regular hours will pay 80 euros per month and those who need to make use of school hours, 125 euros per month.
