Olympics seniors change date

In order not to coincide with the holding of the European elections on May 25, the organization of the first Olympic day for the elderly of the Marina Alta has decided to move the date of the event to June 1.

With an expected influx of more than 150 people, the registration deadline ends Friday. At the moment, populations such as Pedreguer, Els Poblets, Calpe, Ondara and Denia have already submitted their pre-registration.

This first Olympiad for Seniors of 65 years will be held at the facilities of the Sports Center and the municipal pool, and is organized by the City of Dénia, the Consorci Esportiu de la Marina Alta (CEMA) and the training cycle of physical activities of the IES Historian Chabàs of Dénia.

The participants in Olimpic will compete in athletics, in which marches, not races, of 100 meters, 400 meters and relays have been programmed; Swimming, with tests of 25 meters, 50 meters and relays, all freestyle; Volleyball, sport in which the ball has been adapted, choosing the foam to avoid injuries and facilitate the game and has replaced the conventional touch of fingers by the possibility of touching the ball with the hands; Basketball, which will be played in a small circuit that each participant will have to solo alone making boats and throwing baskets, and finally, a section of dance choreography.
