Supramunicipal institutions 4.300.000 euros owed to Dénia

November 26 from 2012 - 00: 01

If they don't pay us, we can't pay. It's that simple and that complicated is the current situation of the municipality of Dénia. The councilor of finance, Vicente Chelet, announced the results of a delinquency report made by his department regarding the debts that other institutions have with the city.

The amount is 4.290.000 euros a day, which prevents the consistory to have liquidity to manage payments to suppliers.

ERDF funds are due 1.400.000 euros; the Valencian Tourism Agency owes the city 362.000 euros; the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, 193.000 euros, and the Generalitat accumulates the largest debt, which adds 2.237.000 euros.

This indebtedness has a negative effect on the payment to suppliers, which quarterly 3.000.000 euros are allocated from the municipality. At the moment the consistory has been forced to delay its payments to 90 days, instead of the 40 stipulated by the Law of Delinquency.

A little over a month to the end of the 2012, the city of Denia is pending payment of a total of 3.700.000 euros to suppliers, indicating that if the accounts were clear with supra-municipal institutions, the council would have a balance for 500.000 euros.
