The vaccine and back to school: the new scenario of the school year in Dénia

05 September 2021 - 09: 10

Next Wednesday the summer is over for the students of Dénia. The educational centers reopen their doors to start the 2021-2022 school year in which they will share space with an already old acquaintance: the pandemic.

It is the second start of the course in which Dénia lives with him coronavirus. This means that schools are more prepared and are aware of how to face classes to avoid infections.

Among the novelties regarding the sanitary measures of the institutes, such as the malleable distance between students, highlights having a vital tool for the fight against COVID-19: the vaccine. The progress of vaccination makes the new course a little safer. Its effects have been noted in the figures of hospitalizations and deaths during this summer, so now it is time to see how school activity develops with a large percentage of immunized students.

In fact, secondary school students are expected to have received at least the first dose of the vaccine for September 8, the day classes begin. The 18-year-olds were already summoned last time, for which the rhythm suggests that, indeed, this objective should be achieved. Therefore, in a few weeks all the students would have the full guideline of the vaccine and the institutes would have that asset to be able to develop their activity with relative normality.

They are sufficient reasons to face the beginning of the classes with optimism. However, the City Council prefers to continue with its feet on the ground. "They will surely be calmer, but [vaccination] cannot be the basis to feel safer," the Councilor for Education told this writing. Melani Ivars, insisting that the measures must be followed and not let down the guard at any time.
