The UNED of Dénia celebrated yesterday the second edition of the campaign "1 book x 1 kg" on the occasion of the Day of the Book. The campaign, consisting of exchanging books for food, managed to collect 1.200 kilos of food.
Residents of the city and different schools and nurseries collaborated in the exchange, such as the Marist Brothers, Montgó and the La Milotxa nursery, as well as the mayor of the city, Ana Kringe and the mayor of culture Pepa Font.
The director of the UNED, Raquel Martí He declared that the campaign "has been a success, this time the culture has been of great help to many families."
The 1.200kg will serve to help more than 5000 people in need.
Curiosity of the day
One of the anecdotes of the day was that, looking through one of the books that were available to the public, he found in it a note of 1000 pesetas new and in perfect condition, one of which has not been seen for a long time.
