Secretary of State for the Environment visits Denia beach after the storm

Secretary of State for the Environment, María García Rodríguez, visited Tuesday morning the coast of Valencia to assess first hand the damage caused by the storm of recent days.

The morning began with a meeting at the Government Delegation with the Minister for Public Works, Íñigo de la Serna, to coordinate with the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, and the representatives of the councils, the progress of the work on the Levantine coast. In the early afternoon, García Rodríguez arrived at the Almadrava beach in Dénia, the municipality most affected by the storm in the province of Alicante.

The secretary said they are working "as quickly as possible to close the damage assessment" and that the intention is that in the Council of Ministers on Friday can implement the necessary measures to act on the points most affected.

García Rodríguez confirmed that the Alicante coast "has structural regression problems" which have been aggravated by the maritime storm last weekend. Initial work will focus on removing debris and adding sand or gravel to the beaches affected, "with the commitment to act as quickly as possible so that the beaches return to their state in time and form for Holy Week".

Valencia meeting with the Agència de Turisme

On Friday, the mayor of Denia, Vicent Grimalt, Like the mayors of the municipalities affected by the Tempoal, they will hold a meeting in Alicante with the Regional Secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer.
