During the 2022/2023 school year, the public centers Les Vessanes, Llebeig and Cervantes have achieved financial savings of 4.283 euros thanks to their participation in the '50/50 School Energy Plan' project, whose purpose is to reduce energy consumption in public school facilities through collective participation.
The basic objectives of the project are to increase information and training on the topic of energy and the responsible use of energy; promote a change in habits throughout the educational community; achieve greater participation in energy decision-making; reduce energy consumption in the facilities and obtain economic resources to invest in the center.
These financial resources come from the commitment of the local administrations participating in the plan to reimburse 50% of the energy savings achieved during the course to each participating center. The Dénia City Council, since the launch of the Plan in the city in the 2021/2022 academic year and to encourage the participation of public schools in the initiative, has committed to reintegrating 100% of the energy savings achieved. Financial resources that each center freely invests back into the school in the way it deems appropriate.
During the 2022/2023 academic year, Les Vessanes school obtained financial savings of 1.115 euros, which the center has reinvested in benches and picnic tables for the patio. Llebeig has achieved savings of 2.232 euros which it has allocated to changing classroom lighting to LED technology. Finally, the Cervantes school has chosen to purchase fans for its facilities with the 936 euros of financial savings obtained last year.
The three centers will continue their participation in the School Energy Plan this year.
