The spectacular nature of the 'Copa de España Fórmula Kite Hydrofoll' comes to Dénia

Marina El Portet bets on bringing Denia the "Copa de España Formula Kite Hydrofoll", a modality of the classic Kite, but much more spectacular. The boards that are driven by the sails in the shape of comets, have a keel that allows to stand out of the water to the table, reaching speeds of 35 knots.

The international and national competition will take place from 6 to 9 in July, with the presence of the best specialists of this new modality. Participation will be around 15 to 25 sailors, being one of the great favorites the Spaniard, Florian Trittel.

Competition Schedule

The 6 day will be the reception of participants and later will take place the technical verification of the tables.

The competition will begin on Friday 7, with a schedule ranging from 10 to 18 hours. The sailors will have to be ready to 10 and depending on the intensity of the wind will begin the tests. Short regattas since their duration will oscillate between 8 and 15 minutes. The regulation marks that 5 tests will be realized in each day of competition.

On Saturday 8, participants must be prepared at 10 hours and sail to 17 hours. An hour later, after the final classification, the trophies will be delivered.

Sunday 9 remains as a day of reservation in case the opportunity is given that the intensity of the wind would force the postponement of the tests of one of the two initially scheduled days

There will be two race fields

The organization will prepare two regatta courses, one in the south and another in the north, always having as reference the facilities of Marina El Portet. The length of each of the race fields is 0.6 miles, ie 1.000 meters between buoy and buoy. Depending on the wind conditions, the tests will be done on one or the other. They will be known as windward-leeward regattas.

Marina El Portet bets on the sail of the future

During the presentation of this sporting event, Luis Mira, director of Puerto Marina El Portet explained that "We bring to Dénia a sporting event of maximum spectacularity, in which the International Federation is working to be Olympic in Tokyo 2020". Mira commented that, "Marina El Portet is committed to promoting water sports and we believe this is a good formula for this. The competition can be followed from the terrace of La Mar Serena and from a few steps that we will put on the breakwater. I invite everyone to come and enjoy a great show, totally free".

Manolo Sanz, sports director of Marina El Portet, meant that "This modality will mark a before and after in the Spanish sail. It can be said that we are before the most similar to a Copa America, although in smaller tables, that reach a great speed".

For his part, Sergio W. Smit, director of events for Marina El Portet, remarked that "It is a real treat to bring this Copa de España to Denia. People will have the unique opportunity to see the best specialists in action and you should not miss this opportunity to enjoy this relatively young sport but that is already an international benchmark".
