Grimalt takes advantage of the FITUR stage to present the tourist actions around Posidonia

January 18 from 2023 - 16: 15

The 'Viu la posidònia' project, which is shared by the town councils of Dénia, Cambrils and Eivissa, and which is financed by European Next Generation funds, was presented this afternoon at FITUR. The mayors of the three cities, Vicent Grimalt, Oliver Klein and Rafael Ruiz, have outlined the philosophy, budget and actions to be implemented within the framework of this common initiative.

This project aims to develop a product of experiential tourism and ecotourism, with a zero carbon imprint, which promotes knowledge and conservation of posidonia, in particular, and, by extension, of the biodiversity of our coast, a tourist and environmental resource of great relevance.

Vicent Grimalt has been in charge of explaining the specific actions that will be carried out within the framework of the project, subsidized with more than 1 million euros by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, within the program 'Experiencias Turismo España', financed with European funds Next Generation.

It is expected that areas of posidonia meadows will be identified, with the cartographic delimitation of areas, and the realization of guided tours, both on the surface and underwater. At the same time, the training of tourist agents and the use of electric means of transport and accompaniment will be promoted. For visitors, awareness campaigns will be carried out and information points and actions will be created with environmental educators and tourism development.

In order to publicize the importance of this underwater plant, the creation of a virtual interpretation center is planned, as well as a multimedia repository. This initiative will go hand in hand with scientific research on the protection, conservation and repopulation of Posidonia.
