Gent de Dénia charges against the PGE again, accusing the City Council of "swindling" citizens

November 17 from 2023 - 10: 29

In an information meeting organized by the Association of Promoters and attended as guests by representatives of the party Gent of Dénia, exposed worrying irregularities in the General Structural Plan (PGE) approved in May by the City Council and the Generalitat.

The specialized technician Jesús Reina led the presentation, revealing data that, according to Gent de Dénia, reveals the vulnerability of the PGE to possible legal actions. Among the issues highlighted, a serious problem was pointed out related to the space allocated to public parks, denouncing that the minimum standard does not comply with the five square meters per inhabitant established by law.

The presentation highlighted that the approved Plan claims to have 25 hectares of Public Park, but applying current legislation, the actual surface area would be only 18 hectares, which would be equivalent to 3,6 square meters per inhabitant. This fact, according to Gent de Dénia, constitutes "a deception" and "a scam on the citizens of Dénia", since it would not only violate European and Valencian regulations, but also discriminates against the inhabitants with respect to the standards of the European Union.

The political group also questioned the inclusion of Castle as a Public Park, pointing out that, according to the Valencian Heritage Law, it must be considered an Asset of Cultural Interest and not a park. In addition, it was argued that certain areas, such as the Camí de Gandía park and the Bosc de Diana, were counted incorrectly, generating discrepancies in the actual amount of public space.

Given these deficiencies, Gent de Dénia announced its intention to urge the Department to intervene and correct the situation before it is forced to take legal measures. The group expressed concern about the possible damage that these irregularities could cause to the city and advocated for immediate action to correct the urban plan.
