End conferences on the Taifa of Dénia

Yesterday, Thursday, the cycle of conferences prepared by the Dénia department of culture to commemorate the millennium of the Taifa of Dénia that have been taking place in La Sala del Castle.

The Mallorcan historian Guillem Rosselló-Bordoy was responsible for the last presentation, in which he spoke of the role of the Eastern Islands of al-Andalus, the Balearic Islands, in the complex history of Dianense Taifa. The important literary court both the Balearic and the Taifa of Denia, with the importance of the poet born in Jesus Pobre Ibn al-Labanna, focused conference Rosselló-Bordoy and the continuing problems of the Taifa of Dénia in islands, when they constitute independent Muslim kingdom in 1076 after the conquest of Dénia by the taifa of Zaragoza.

Well received by the public

Josep Antoni Gisbert, municipal archaeologist, said that this lecture series has been well received by the local public and visitors, allowing also bring to light unpublished data to time over the period of the Taifa of Dénia.

In addition archaeologist himself and Rosselló-Bordoy, participated in these lectures the professor of Arabic at the University of Alicante Francisco Franco and professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona Félix Retamero.
