Is Dénia prepared for a tsunami?

January 26 from 2024 - 10: 00

The spokesperson for Gent of Dénia, mario vidal, expressed his concern in the plenary session of Dénia City Council this Thursday about the appearance of the city in reports about locations at risk of tsunamis. Vidal, during the question and answer session, urged the local government to create an emergency plan in the event of a tsunami affecting this municipality in the future.

The Councilor for Security, Javier Scotto, stated that in Dénia there are already different emergency plans and that both the fire department and the police know the protocols, although he admitted not knowing if the action in the event of a tsunami was reflected.

Scotto, however, thanked the proposal and promised to study the request and, if it is not already reflected, include it in these plans.

    let's be serious
The risk of a Tsunami or an Earthquake is always real and unpredictable, but remote in our latitudes.
The risk of flooding is much more real when heavy rains and sea storms come together; there is an infinitely greater probability, so much so that in this and other media not long ago flood risk maps were collected in our territory.
It would be much better if our City Council were concerned and dedicated to preventing these floods of water by investing in cleaning ravines, in rainwater evacuation systems, in borders against storms... etc., in short, in the safety of its citizens and their communities. goods, in something that seems to have been abandoned forever, instead of wasting time talking about things that, although possible, are infinitely less probable.
Seriously, gentlemen, councillors, that's what we pay you for, not to ramble on about unserious things, which is what seems to kill your time and with which you justify your "work."

anticipating is never bad when the risk is real

  3. jot says:

Simply install sirens and prepare. In 2004, no one was prepared. The risk comes from Algeria, a strong tsunami there would impact the entire Mediterranean...look how many died in Cadix with the Lisbon earthquake in 1755...

And for the fall of a meteorite?

  5. It says:

Don't you have more serious things to talk about?
There won't be serious and real problems to solve in Denia?
Is that what we pay them for?
    Shameful
