OPINION Party Dénia

In these post-electoral moments, and at the same time pre-election, the Popular Party family has received the news of the death of Miguel Ferrer Marsal, our Party's first mayor of Dénia.

Not for expected, this news leaves us without one of the referents of the center right of the city. A person who is open to dialogue and close, who taught a way of doing politics that is being lost today. Miguel taught us that the benefit of the city is above acronyms, names and ideologies, and what is most important, that your political rivals are not your enemies, and they must be respected for their effort and dedication to improving the the city, even if they don't think like you. This attitude earned him much criticism during his time, including his own colleagues, but time has proved Miguel right. The important thing is not the ideologies, if the objective is to improve Dénia, his beloved Dénia.

Because Miguel was in love with Dénia, with the Routes, to walk through the streets of Dénia, to greet everyone, always with a smile and a kind word. That love for the city of his, led him to carry out from the City Hall, a transformation of the real city, laying the foundations of the Dénia of the future.

His vision of the Dénia of the future, led him to inaugurate projects such as the Moll de la Pansa, in July 2001, laying the foundations of the current nautical reference that is the city. But he also launched the Beniadla Water Treatment Plant in 2002, with drinking water reaching the houses of the residents of Dénia in September of that same year. Thus ended one of the main problems that the city had, drinking water. Now it is unthinkable not to open the faucet at home and be able to drink water, but it happened and many generations could not, until that year, be able to do that everyday gesture.

In addition, it inaugurated the new Chabás Historian Institute, modern and exemplary facilities, which replaced the old one. And not only that, he saw that the future of the city could focus on gastronomy, signing the construction project for the CDT building with the Generalitat Valenciana. A vision that a few years later, was endorsed by the title of Creative City of Gastronomy by UNESCO.

And he carried out an authentic transformation of the city, with the recovery of degraded and abandoned areas, such as La Vía street, with the old train tracks still, he turned it into an underground car park and the urbanization of the upper part, is today a point of meeting of the neighbors of Dénia. As also happened with Les Bassettes, the large northern park of the city, today a place of recreation for families and young people. Or the signing of the agreement with the Generalitat for the construction of the indoor pool.

Another of the points in which Miguel was a visionary was in the efforts he made in front of the General Directorate of Traffic so that our young people did not have to travel to Alicante to take their driving tests. Those little details that really help people.

This was Miguel, a person with a true vocation for public service, an example for all of us who are part of the Popular Party of Dénia. A person who taught us that with dialogue and a city project, Dénia can once again become a benchmark.

Thank you Miguel and good trip.
