The Russian, Denis Taradín, demonstrated in Dénia to be the best in the “Spain Series 2018" that took place in the Marina El Portet Dénia. In the opening day the wind conditions were almost perfect, although in the second it was not so much, the Formula Kite fleet sailed the last two races of the championship with wind intensity of ten to fourteen knots. This allowed to resolve the general classifications of the three events that grouped the Dianense test.
In the first heat of the day, after an off-line by Denis Taradín, Alejandro Climent, sailor of the El Portet Marina Sports Club, took advantage of his opportunity to recover from the first day by signing his first partial victory ahead of the also Russian, Aleksey Chibizov, who continued holding the second position in the provisional general.
The second test of the day, the windiest of the whole championship, the fleet offered a spectacular start where the Russians returned to lead the fleet from start to finish, distancing themselves from the rest by their speed difference, finishing completing the podium, the Spanish Alejandro Climent.
As of the end of the second heat of the day, the wind rolled south falling below five knots forcing the race committee to anchor the race course again and wait for an increase in intensity. This did not happen and the committee decided to end the day and with it the Dianense stop of the Formula Kite Spain Series 2018.
The champion was Denis Taradín with a total sum of 8 points, followed by his compatriot, Aleksey Chibizov with 12. The third was the Valencian, Alejandro Climent with 15 points, the fourth place was for the Mexican, Xantos Villegas with 21. The fifth place was for the German, Gunnar Marc Biniasch, with 29 points, being sixth and second national, Carlos Puig that added a total of 34 points.
Autonomous Community of Valencia
During the same championship, the Valencian Community Sailing Federation organized through the Marina El Portet Sports Club the Valencian Community Formula Kite Championship where the local sailor, Alejandro Climent, was proclaimed the winner of the regional title. He was accompanied on the podium by the sailors of the Eolo Castellón Sports Club, Carlos Puig Capdevila and José Traver.
Alejandro Climent sailor of the Marina El Portet Sports Club commented after the test, "I am happy to add this title. Although it seems easy, the level we are taking at the level of the Valencian Community is very important. Last year the change has been exponential and makes the title of regional champion much more important year after year".
