Following complaints from residents of the Plaza Jaume I on the proliferation of rats in the area, the Socialist Group in the city of Denia has found that the company responsible for pest management is working without a contract since 2010 and also the agreement with the University of Valencia for advice and pest control ended last 31 2012 December.
councilman Pep Marí explained that the company has exceeded the 21.000 annual euros needed to conduct a public tender, charging monthly 3.400 euros (40.800 euros per year). "The invoices of the company do not specify the kilos or liters of material, so it is not known what treatment the company is doing, since there is no technical control to verify if the treatment is correct," Marí said.
