The Mayor of Dénia, Ana Kringe, traveled last week to Madrid with the mayors of Oliva and Gandía, Mª Consuelo Escrivà and Arturo Torró, to meet with the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing, Rafael Catalá Polo, to address the situation of the train project wide Gandia-Oliva-Dénia.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Public Works, Mariano Rajoy "He has personally been interested in the project going ahead and has even requested the European Union to be included in the European Global Railway Network". From the ministry they assure that they are going to follow the steps established in October of 2011 in the protocol of intentions signed between the central Government and the Generalitat Valenciana to speed up the process.

According to this agreement, the Ministry of Development would assume the completion of informative studies, while studies of demand, profitability and traffic forecasting, as well as land reserve would be assumed by the Generalitat Valenciana.

The mayors were very satisfied after the meeting, because according to Kringe, "This is the first time that we are given reliable guarantees that the collaboration protocol will be put into operation."
