The Dénia Barbarians Senior rugby team Marina Alta They faced UCV in an exciting match that ended in a draw last Saturday. The match, played at the Río Rugby Field in Valencia, kept the Barbarians fighting against a team considered one of their direct rivals in the 1st Territorial Division.

Despite having a small number of players due to the match schedule, the Dianenses played an intense game from the start. Yovanny stood out by securing a try after five minutes, followed by Franco's conversion, putting those from Dénia ahead (0-7).

UCV responded quickly, scoring a try after five minutes, tying the score (7-7). The match remained tense, and in the 30th minute, a dispute resulted in the temporary expulsion of a Valencian player and a direct red card for a Barbarian, leaving the Dénia team with one less player for the rest of the match. During this play, UCV achieved a try that put them ahead (12-7).

However, the Dianenses did not slow down and increased the pace of the game. Gringo scored another try almost at halftime, bringing the score to a tie (12-12).

The second half of the game promised tension. Despite a new UCV test after 10 minutes (19-12), those from Dénia maintained the pressure. Alex Pardo scored another try without conversion (19-17).

The match continued to be balanced, and in the 65th minute, Andresito scored another try, taking the Marina Alta team ahead (19-22).

With nerves on edge, neither team managed a try that would seal the victory. The Valencians opted for stick shots, achieving one that tied the game (22-22) and divided the points between both teams.

Despite the bittersweet taste of not winning, the draw away from home was considered positive due to the circumstances of the match.

Dénia Barbarians will prepare for their next match away from home against Cartagena after a day of rest.
