DBC Nacional defeats Adesavi in a tough match

27 March 2023 - 10: 38

Dénia Basketball SUMA 1 Nacional took a giant step with its victory in Joan Fuster against Adesavi (53-44) on all fronts that were open before this day. This third consecutive victory means, in the first place, mathematically avoiding the place of direct relegation of the category, with four days to go until the end of the regular season.

Only a combination of adverse results could still lead the team to the second worst possible scenario, which would be having to play the playoff for permanence in the 1st National Division. The truth is that the Dénia team has many chances in favor of this not happening, but what happens in the following weeks will dictate the course of events.

Thirdly, the team depends on itself to finish the season occupying one of the first eight places in the group, which grants the right to play the first of the qualifying rounds for promotion to the EBA League.

For this, he is obliged to defend his current sixth place in the standings against three direct rivals, all at home: Ilicitano, Altea and Montemar, before closing this first phase of the competition receiving a visit from the leader, La Vila, in Dénia.

Adesavi came to this meeting consuming his last options to avoid relegation and the truth is that he had an excellent match, complicating things from start to finish, on a day in which those from Dénia again had a hard time scoring points in the rival hoop. The foreign success of the visitors allowed them to finish the first quarter with a two-point lead.

In view of the lack of fluency in attack in the Dianenses, they opted to raise the defensive level and thus make their game much more difficult, but they continued to fail excessively in their basket, so the score at half-time, although favourable, was really low (23 -twenty).

The rotations that Edu Clavero and Pascual Miralles introduced into the team failed to break the dynamics, and those from San Vicente began to believe in their chances of winning.

The last quarter began with a two-point advantage and with a lot of pressure on the players, knowing everything that was at stake in those last ten minutes of the game.

A first breakaway attempt was controlled from the free kick by the rivals, again maintaining equality until there were four minutes remaining in the match. No one in the pavilion could guess to which side of the scale the result would end up leaning.

However, when things were more difficult, far from collapsing, the Dianenses linked the best minutes in the game with defense always as the main argument.

Safety from the free kick and two providential triples opened up a distance on the scoreboard that, despite the visitor's insistence, ended up being decisive in closing a game that clearly marked the future of the team in the final stretch of the regular season.

Next week Denia Suma will move to the field of Ilicitano, a team that beat them at home in the first round, where they will have a first opportunity to establish themselves in the privileged places of the group.
