The City Council of Dénia has recently signed the adhesion and incorporation to the 'Red of Tourist Violet Points' of the Tourist Info Network of the Valencian Community and the Institut Valencià de les Dones.
The Generalitat Valenciana has created the "Tourist Violet Points" as spaces, in which the visitor, tourist and resident are sensitized, and visitors and tourists who are victims of any type of sexist aggression are cared for, informed and helped. Its purpose is to raise awareness, prevent and enjoy the tourist destinations of the Valencian Community with respect for women, free from sexist harassment and humiliation.
These Points are a project that is the result of the collaboration between Turisme Comunitat Valenciana and the Institut Valencià de les Dones who put their trust in the communication skills of the Tourist Info Network informants - to which is added the knowledge of languages-, and the previously known location of tourist offices by tourists and visitors. Aspects that will favor the expansion of the Violet Points service through the Violet Tourist Points that will constitute a point of first care for people who are displaced and are unaware of other municipal or regional channels to be attended in case of direct aggression towards themselves or a third person.
With the incorporation into the network, the Dénia City Council undertakes to attend and inform victims of sexist violence in its Tourist Info offices, facilitating telephone contacts and the location of specialized services, this service will be provided during the opening period of the Tourist Info Office; incorporate into its municipal protocol in the face of sexist attacks the procedure to be followed by the staff of the Tourist Info Offices and communicate this circumstance to the municipal department competent in the matter; participate in training and informative actions of this nature promoted by Turisme Comunitat Valenciana and the Institut Valencià de les Dones; raise awareness and prevent situations of sexist violence in their tourist destinations and use the distinctive "Tourist Violet Point".
Turisme Comunitat Valenciana and the Institut Valencià de les Dones, undertake to promote training in the prevention of sexist violence and basic advice to the staff of the Tourist Info Offices; generate training and information actions for agents of the tourism sector; develop information actions for tourists and the general population; the edition and delivery of informative supports on this matter to the Tourist Info Offices in different languages and the generation and delivery of the distinctive "Tourist Violet Point".
