November 12 from 2018 - 07: 40

The cities of Dénia and Östersund (Sweden), both Creative Cities of the Gastronomy of UNESCO, have promoted a culinary training project in which they intend to involve the other cities of the UNESCO network. It is a project on transnational university training in the field of gastronomy and territory, taking advantage of the link between the universities and the member cities of the UNESCO network. Both Dénia and the representatives of the University of Alicante, present in one of the meetings, were willing to collaborate and promote the project within the network.

The proposal was born in Dénia, where a group of Swedish researchers have recently been to assess the social and economic impact of joining the UNESCO Creative Cities network.

Researchers from the Mid Sweden University, Wilhelm Skoglund and Daniel Laven, and from the school of agricultural higher education Torsta, Trine Amudsen and Anna Beck-Friis, met Thursday with institutional and business representatives of the city, received information on local training offers and initiatives in the agrifood and hospitality sector and were interested in the actions linked to the project Denia & Marina Alta tastinglife. The working meeting took place in the CdT, where Marisa Ballester and Jaume Ginestar, professors of the IES María Ibars, announced the center's offer in culinary and tourist matters, as well as its participation in the Erasmus + program Youth4Food.

In addition to sharing the possibilities in gastronomic training in the region, Swedish researchers met with local authorities and representatives of the Hospitality and Tourism Association of the Marina Alta and visited the Marsh of Pego-Oliva and the Riurau de Jesús Pobre, places in which they held meetings with producers of the agrifood sector of the Marina Alta.

The trip of the Swedes continues in Parma (Italy) to continue with their work of evaluation of the training activities and the degree of involvement with the sustainability of the local projects of the UNESCO network.
