Dénia and Els Poblets seek help in the Confederation to the stagnation of the river Girona

May 22 from 2018 - 16: 20

The mayors of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and of Els Poblets, Salvador Sendra, have met this Tuesday in Valencia with the president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar, Mª Ángeles Ureña, and the head of the Provincial Coastal Service, Rosa de Los Ríos, in order to provide a solution to the problems of healthiness that is causing the stagnation of waters at the mouth of the river Girona on the beach of Las Marinas because of the accumulation of gravel and posidonia. This accumulation of material is causing the waters not to flow and stagnate, producing the proliferation of insects and odors.

The problem is clear: the City of Dénia can not operate with machinery from the beach to solve the problem, since the accumulation that is plugging the water outlet is 500 meters inland, in an area that is owned by the Confederation.

To solve it, the Confederation technicians have proposed the creation of a temporary access to the area blocked so that the machines can act and unclog the area that is accumulating water. This action will be provisional and the mouth will be restored until it is as it is today when the performance is finished.

The councilors of Environment of Dénia have also participated in the meeting this morning, Josep Crespo, the councilor of Beach of Els Poblets, Francisco José Pérez Ribot, and the technicians of the administrations involved.
