After the last tender for the work on the site of the old ambulatory, where a long-awaited park will be created in the center of Dénia, was abandoned, the City Council tries again. The main problem last time, as confirmed by the council itself, was the budget from which they started, insufficient for any company to be interested. On this occasion they have increased it by 35.000 euros. It will be enough?
It is one of the most anticipated projects, and part of the blame for this is the way in which it was decided to undertake. Unlike what is usually done, on this occasion it was decided to mediate the selection process for the final project with an ideas contest in which large architecture studios that have worked all over the world participated. In a massive act, and much announced, in the Library of Dénia it was resolved and the winner was announced. Much applause. It was in 2021.
Months went by and nothing more was heard. They had the plot, they had the project, but there was no tender. It took until March 2023 for a tender to be published that did not please. In the middle of the inflation crisis, with the cost of material through the roof, no construction company wanted to take over the work. At least that was the reason they assumed from the City Council. So, the budget was set at 740.000 euros. Now, it rises to almost 776.000, which with VAT would be 938.000 euros. Some 35.000 euros more that seek to be enough to attract companies.
Companies have until the end of this month, August 30, to submit their proposals. If suitors are found who are satisfied with the bases, the long-awaited park could finally be seen between the end of this year and the beginning of next, since the execution period will be four months.
Why do you have to raise the budget to make a little park?
Easy: Multiply the work days of 6-7 months (that's low), by an hour lost each day, for 7-8 workers who are going to have lunch and not produce and it is even cheap to increase by €35.000 said budget
740.000 euros does not attract construction companies, 776.000, yes? It smells strange, like those 35.000 do not have a "master" because they are "spent" in air and nothing happens. What a way to crawl, and through a park with 4 trees, that is, previous design by some landscaper who did not care how much it was going to cost to the coffers of the city council, or the city council did not care how much it was going to cost to pay to its taxpayers, after the -very dubious- online and anonymous "open" voting (highly manipulable) for the execution of the supposed park that we have not yet seen after years.
Post – data, the design of the park already looks very outdated as can be seen in the photo, four painted iron beams and “palante”, come on, a rebar park with trees, they really have such bad taste when choosing projects, bad taste in terms of aesthetics, and in terms of economics. I guess everyone's choices are based on his upbringing.
