Considered one of the most dynamic and consolidated our community, the Archives of Dénia is a reference for experts archivists in the Region, and that is why we selected our city to celebrate last Friday a meeting of working group of archivists belonging to the Archivists Association of Documents Valencians i Gestors Central regions.

The meeting had a double objective: on the one hand to celebrate the International Day of the Archives, established in 2004 by UNESCO at the request of the ICA (International Council of Archives) to vindicate the role of the archives and the social utility of the professionals at their position; on the other hand, to deal with a fundamental subject in archival: the expurgo or documentary selection: how to decide, with professional criteria, what documentation should be kept and which should be eliminated, a very topical issue related to the transparency law.
In addition to the municipal archivist, Rosa Seser, and the president of the Associació d'Arxivers i Gestors of Documents Valencians, Jesús Alonso, attended the meeting representatives of the Arxiu Històric de Gandia; Arxiu de Alzira; Arxiu de Pego; Arxiu de Gata; MACMA file; Administrative File of Gandia; Arxiu de Oliva and the Archives and Libraries Service of the Ajuntament de Dénia.
