Red Cross faces a spectacular sea accident at the height of Les Deveses

August 04 from 2019 - 11: 12

After a couple of weeks where calm has reigned on our coast, yesterday the Red Cross Dénia lifeguards were again required to give everything before one of the most complex rescues of the summer. It happened on the beach Les Deveses when they were already closing the service, around 19:00.

The rescue water motorcycle with which the Red Cross post in Les Deveses is already arriving at the port, where the mooring and the end of the day awaited, when at that same time a windsurfer gave the alarm about Another partner who was also doing the same sport. Apparently, the wounded would have destabilized from the board, crashing into the sea half a kilometer from the coast and suffering what was initially suspected to be some fracture in the foot.

Quickly, the Les Deveses Red Cross post was mobilized, contacting the jet ski to return quickly and calling the NGO ambulance. The motorcycle managed to arrive shortly where the victim was, who was already leaning on a private jet ski that had come to help.

When doing the check in the water they found that the wounds suffered were more important than they initially thought. The injured had suffered a double fracture in the tibia and fibula of the right leg, so they proceeded to immobilize him with splints in the same place, carrying out the trailer and extraction with the help of the spinal board. On the shore, 4 lifeguards and the ambulance were waiting for them, which transferred the windsurfer to the hospital.
