02 October 2012 - 00: 05

Last week the Local Government Board approved the award of the work of non-motorized platforms of the city to the joint venture company formed by the Dianense Rydepa 2000 and Alicante Construcciones Symetra amounting to 321.968 euros.

The works, which will begin in mid-month, must be completed before December 31 to receive funding from European FEDER funds, although it is estimated that its duration is two months.

The objective of these non-motorized platforms is to improve the efficiency of the mobility of the city, ensure accessibility for all, increase the safety of users, improve the quality of life of citizens and contribute to economic dynamism by favoring the connection between different areas of the city. In this way, four roads have been created: Avenida del Montgó-Plaza Jaume I-Avenida Joan Chabàs; Calle Diana, from La Mar Street to Joan Fuster Avenue; Avenue of the Montgó-Street Metge Manuel Vallalta; Way of Gandía and Way of Dénia to Pego.

The Department of Public Works and Planning intends that this project help to reduce motor travel around the city, improving accessibility and sustainability in Dénia.

It should be remembered that this project is part of the five Déniafutur actions planned to be carried out with the FEDER funds: remodeling of the historic center, the new eco-park, the creation of two green waste collection points and the adaptation of the Bosc de Diana. Pepa Font, Councilor of the area, said the lack of income from European funding 'It was the council which has incurred the costs of the other four actuaciones- will prevent the realization of Bosc de Diana. Anyway, according Font, "The project is written and we do not rule out doing it later when we find the necessary financing channels."
