A department that since the 2011 has been growing to become one of the most vital just to Tourism in the proper functioning of the city. Under the supervision of Signes, it was decided to strengthen the Environment, due to the great amount of service provided, such as the collection of waste, the Integral Water and Sewage Cycle, the cleaning of plots or the surveillance of the Marine Reserve of the Cabo de San Antonio, which was abandoned by the Generalitat Valenciana.

The dismantling and dissection of the council collides head-on with the conversations always held with the Popular Party of the need to group councils, especially in the Department of the Environment.

Pepa Font, Unificat Center spokesman said that " with the division of powers has broken up the department. A department that was working efficiently, has been dismembered and chopped, which from now cause only one official has three councilmen giving orders without any coordination. This is the actual environmental policy of the Popular Party and in the end the only injured party, the ordinary citizen".

Juan Carlos Signes, former Councilor for the Environment said " I found a dismembered department, without stable staff in the functions of Environment. With a lot of effort I managed to make a large organization chart and this caused that they could make close to 1000 files, substantially increasing the number with respect to the previous legislature, which meant a better service to the citizen."

Signes pointed out "I hope that the work done these three years, will not spoil in 8 months left for the elections, retaking the current structure once the elections pass, in such an important department in the day-to-day life of citizens".
