The Information Committee of Finance held in the city of Dénia has unanimously approved the motion presented by the Socialist Group in urging the Government to change the law to force financial institutions to the provision of empty homes for social rent of households in social exclusion.
The Socialists requested in this motion that the 8 / 2004 law be amended to promote the social rent of houses subject to judicial foreclosure proceedings for those executed.
The socialist councilor in charge of housing, Óscar Mengual, Explained that currently «resulta complicado conseguir acuerdos con las entidades bancarias al objeto de la puesta a disposición, con carácter temporal y limitado, de viviendas sociales que puedan atender las necesidades habitacionales de las familias en riesgo de exclusión y con dificultades económicas».
The latter motion passed joins those already presented by the Socialist group and the council has also decided to approve the creation of a service of legal and administrative counseling for families at risk of social exclusion for failing to pay the mortgage payments, creating a Joint Commission of housing with the "STOP evictions" platform and participation of municipal technicians and the creation of a municipal register of empty homes as well as a record of applicants for social housing to combat the problem of housing in the city.
