Approved the Health and Safety Plan for the reform of the Old Market

It is known that the City of Dénia wants to make the old Lonja a multifunctional building. Therefore, the mayor of the Treasury, Vicente Chelet, announced the approval of the Health and Safety Plan necessary for the adaptation of the infrastructure. Among other modifications, the plan reflects the destruction and reconstruction of the roof of the building, which does not comply with the regulations. This is made of uralite and is composed of asbestos, a highly carcinogenic material.

Regarding the functions that the municipality has planned for the old building, Chelet highlighted the inclusion of employment workshops, exhibitions and the establishment of the headquarters Office of Information and Tourism. So far the tourist office is located in rented premises and it is intended that at the end of the works, passing the old Lonja serve to cut spending on condition that produces income property. The works are expected to be completed by the end of March 2013.
