Alexander Peña won the Open Tournament and Jaime Valmaña won the Closed Chess Tournament

Dénia hosted the absolute autonomic final of chess of the Valencian Community, a championship divided into two tournaments, an Open and a Closed, the latter being a final. In the Cerrado tournament there was a fight without quarter to the end, great emotion and dedication in all the boards to finally impose the International Master Jaime Valmaña. Second was the International Master Pablo Cruz and third the Master FIDE José Vte. Pallardo

In the open tournament, FIDE Master Alexander Peña Riasco has been proclaimed Victor, second was the young Xeraco player Marc Carbonell Sancho and in third position Rosendo Barbera Estellés. In this tournament there have also been fights and surprises in the top positions. Several of the favorites were left in part thanks to the great performance of the young players, which already point very high and certainly will give a lot and good to talk about in the world of chess.

The tournament was played during the last two weekends in the Llunatics building. The games were played at a rate of 90 minutes each player plus an increment of 30 seconds per move performed by each player and in the morning (10 to 14 hours) and late (16 to 21 hours.).

The games were offered live for everyone through the international platform chess24.com, among others.

The award ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and the Councilor for Youth, Social Services and Health, Cristina Morera, who delivered the well-deserved trophies and congratulated the participants for their great effort.

The organization thanked the City of Dénia, the Chess Federation of the Valencian Community and Vicente Costa (emblematic organizer of the city of Dénia) the human and economic effort they are making for this tournament to take place, since they are pending of a lot of details so that players feel as comfortable as possible.
