They propose that all flags fly at half mast as a sign of mourning and recognition of all the people who have died from COVID-19. According to the latest data provided by the Generalitat Valenciana, there are now 17 people who have died in the region of La Marina Alta and almost 200 infected.
Last Sunday the Valencian Generalitat decreed official mourning throughout the Valencian Community and waved the flags at half-staff. Likewise, three minutes of silence were observed in memory of the victims.
Susana Mut indicates that: «el reconocimiento hacia las personas fallecidas por parte de las instituciones oficiales, no solo es una muestra de respeto, sino también una manera de acompañar a todas aquellas familias que no han podido despedirlos por las restricciones que marca en decreto de Estado de Alarma.»
On the other hand, «reconocer la labor de todos esos colectivos profesionales que continúan en primera línea combatiendo los efectos del COVID 19, no puede pasar desapercibida y por ese motivo, cualquier muestra de reconocimiento desde las instituciones públicas, debe ser representativa de toda la ciudad, por ese motivo la unidad de todas las fuerzas políticas municipales debe ser más fuerte que nunca en estos momentos», recalled Estefanía Schwamb, councilor of the orange party.
