El Hospital de Dénia has launched a new action with the aim of avoiding interruptions during the process of medication distribution. These are vests worn by the nursing staff who distribute the medication among patients who warn colleagues and family members so they do not get distracted during the process.
According to a study carried out in the center, with the vests placed, the risk of interruptions during the administration of the medication was reduced by 27%. Among the main sources of distortion include: communication between professionals, family members of patients, satisfaction of the needs of patients, obtaining materials or phone calls or from the doorbell of the room.
The study carried out by the nurses of the Dénia Hospital has just been presented in the framework of the XXIX National Conference of Nurses Managers which is celebrated these days in San Sebastian.
