The term opens to participate in the 6th edition of the Participatory Budgets

26 September 2022 - 13: 05

As a novelty, citizens of all ages will be able to present their proposal this year, no matter how old they are

Today is the deadline for the citizens of Dénia to present their proposals to decide which public spaces in the city should be changed or improved.

What are participatory budgets

Participatory Budgets are a process of direct participation for citizens aimed at improving public spaces in the city.

These budgets, which are already on their sixth edition, may include proposals for improvement of urban furniture such as asphalt, sidewalks, parks, benches or signs, in short, spaces in which the city council has powers.

Councilor for Citizen Participation, Pepe Doménech, has highlighted that "from the municipal government we continue to bet and give value to this tool for citizen participation and for the sixth edition of the Participatory Budgets we have increased the amount destined to execute the proposals chosen by the citizens, which goes from 350.000 to 400.000 euros ”.

These proposals can be made in various ways, both online and in person.

El Plazo to propose these improvements will be from today September 26, until next October 20, 2022.

As a novelty, citizens of all ages will be able to present their proposal this year, no matter how old they are, in other words, children can also contribute their ideas. In this way, affirms the Councilor for Citizen Participation, "we want to take a step forward in promoting children's rights, favoring their right to give their opinion and not suffer discrimination for any reason, not even because of their age."

How to make your proposal

Dénia City Council makes various participation channels available to the public. These are the different ways available for you to collaborate with your idea:

  • Physically through October neighborhood meetings
  • Through the web participadenia.es
  • With the mobile app AppDenia
  • Face-to-face attention at the Portelles Participation Space (Calle Pare Pere 17)
  • Through citizen consultations
  • Other participatory processes

Election of Participatory Budget proposals

Once the proposals have been made, as the councilor points out, they will go on to a study phase carried out by municipal technicians, who will assess whether or not they are viable.

The selected proposals will be put to a vote, and the winners will be carried out. In other years, streets have been resurfaced, mirrors for drivers have been installed and a climbing wall has even been created, among other changes and improvements.
