Budgets 2012: Tourism increases by 2%, Culture and Urbanism decrease

The Councilor for Culture, Tourism, and Public Works and Urban Planning, Pepa Font, yesterday analyzed the budgets of their areas, all down except tourism, which increases to 1.280.000 euros.

Font has highlighted the 60.000 euros for the refurbishment of the building of the bottom of the Plaza del Consell, which on the ground floor house a complementary point of tourist information on the main office and on the first floor, a space of cultural diffusion on the historic center of Dénia.

Once this new tourist information point is opened, at a strategic point, the itinerant that was placed during the summer months on Marqués de Campo Street will be eliminated.

Low culture in the budget between 11 and 12%, to 1.700.000 euros. It becomes one of the areas most affected by the cuts, although Font explained that will not be noticed in the quality of supply as it responds to organizational and promotional issues.

Also from the culture department is seeking private sector collaboration to propose shows "at zero cost for the council, which gives the spaces for the proceedings, in exchange for the box office for the company".

As for the areas of Urbanism and Housing, the budget drops an 2,17% to the 4.555.000 euros. This item includes the investment of DéniaFutur of the non-motorized platforms and the conditioning of the green area of ​​the Bosc de Diana, "Two actions that go out to tender and are going to start this year."
