22 March 2024 - 11: 39
    • On March 23, the Shopping Center will turn off the lights on its façade from 20:30 p.m. to 21:30 p.m. as a gesture of support against climate change.
  • The mall Portal de la Marina, owned by Lar España Real Estate Socimi and managed by Grupo Lar through Gentalia, wants to join “Earth Hour” by turning off its lights to protest against climate change.

Earth Hour is an initiative that began in Sydney in 2007 from the union of companies, people and institutions from more than 200 countries that were fighting for real change in actions against climate change. A gesture that consists of turning off the lights on facades and buildings and that has managed to turn off the light on monuments such as the Eiffel Tower or the Sagrada Familia among 17.000 others who have joined the initiative.

It is not the only sustainable initiative taken by the Portal de la Marina shopping center. In the underground parking it has incorporated an ecozone available to its customers to facilitate the recycling of different waste such as batteries, used oil, lighting or fluorescent tubes. It also has two electric vehicle charging stations, from Iberdrola and Tesla, in the outdoor parking lot.

Through initiatives taken by the shopping center itself, more than 12.500 containers have been collected in 2023 from the Recycles machines, 256 tons of cardboard, 5 tons of plastics and 311 kg of contaminated containers. And it is also worth highlighting the collection of other waste such as 134 kg of batteries, 103 kg of lamps, 68 kg of ink and toner cartridges and 300 kg of used clothing. Thanks to initiatives such as these, it has achieved several certificates in terms of sustainability.

In the words of Virginia Carrasco, director of the shopping center: “At Portal de la Marina we are very aware of the importance of taking care of our planet so, for us, raising awareness among the population of the Marina Alta With these initiatives it is essential to contribute our grain of sand together.”
