Opinion Ángel Serrano (PSOE): "The Dénia that awakens is the Dénia of the future"

At my 23 years old, it is a privilege to be the youngest of the Dénia Socialists' candidacy and an active part of Vicent Grimalt's team. Vicent and I have known each other for a lifetime. I met him when I was a kid in the band who was looking forward to playing the first box rolls and he was the President. Vicent demonstrated to us at that time his great management capacity, his decision-making from a consensus attitude, his worth to carry out any project that was put ahead, such as the concerts with the North American director Robert Smith, the trip to Korea, accompany Lluis Llach in two concerts before his retirement. Successes that will be recorded in the history of Dianense culture.

Ahora, 10 años después, estoy orgulloso de pertenecer al movimiento de cambio que encabeza: Dénia es desperta. Un proyecto que es mucho más que una campaña electoral. No es el proyecto de Vicent, tampoco el de los socialistas. Es el proyecto de Dénia, el que nuestras vecinas y vecinos nos han transmitido a través de las jornadas participativas, las salidas a la calle y los «puerta a puerta» realizados dentro de novedosas iniciativas participativas como ‘A prop teu’ o ‘Parlant s´entén la gent’. Una serie de acciones con un único objetivo. Y no, no es sólo el de ganar las elecciones del próximo 24 de mayo. El objetivo era estar al lado de las vecinas y vecinos, que nos transmitieran de primera mano sus quejas, sus preocupaciones. Problemas que todas y todos vivimos a diario. Con ello, hemos elaborado el mejor programa posible para Dénia, el que se ajusta a las prioridades que tenemos los habitantes de Dénia.

The dianenses are honest and simple people do not want big projects. We want to walk around without stumble Dénia with the holes in the sidewalks, enjoying a clean city. The same want those who choose Dénia as a resting place. That's our Denia, Denia that's the future.

Another Dénia is possible. Another Dénia is necessary. To do this, we must wake up from the 7-year lethargy in which the right wing of Pepa Font and Ana Kringe has plunged us. Now they want to disguise themselves as new winds, but the fatigue that can be seen in their eyes behind their mask is too evident.

Dénia needs to wake up and is waking up. Among all people finally we get it. Because Dénia Dénia awakening is the future. Which will make us proud again of the wonderful city in which we have been privileged to be born.
