New de-escalation: what can and cannot be done from March 1 in the Valencian Community?

A "slow, prudent and progressive de-escalation" begins so that it can be "safe and effective", according to the president, Ximo Puig, which urges at the same time to continue applying "maximum prudence" and "proportionality" in order to continue facing the crisis generated by COVID-19.

Among the main measures adopted is the partial opening of the hotel industry, the extension of business hours, the elimination of the municipal perimeter during weekends, and the relaxation of restrictions on physical activity and sports. The new measures will be in effect from March 1 and for a period of 14 days.

From March 1, the hostelry the opening of the terraces, with a capacity of up to 75% and a maximum of 4 people per table, until 6 in the afternoon. Of course, the Generalitat insisted on the obligation to wear the masks also on the terraces, removing them only at the time of consumption.

In the same way, the extension of the hours of the shops until 8 in the afternoon, with a capacity of 50%; and the elimination of the municipal perimeter during the weekends, in the 16 cities with more than 50.000 inhabitants that until now were affected by this measure.

It is also increased to 4 people of the maximum limit in family and social gatherings in public spaces, and the maintenance of current restrictions in the private sphere. The restrictions for physical activity and sport are also made more flexible; reopening of parks and public gardens, and increase of the capacity in places of worship and religious up to 50%, extending the rest of the restrictions currently in force.

Extension of the regional perimeter

The restriction of night mobility between 15 at night and 10 in the morning is extended until March 6, as well as the regional perimeter, both to enter and to leave the Valencian Community.

The president justifies the extension of these restrictions in the obligation to maintain "maximum caution" and the need to prevent free mobility in the face of the threat posed by the different variants of COVID-19

Also, the head of the Consell announced that this week the Interdepartmental Table will meet again to assess the measures, and will hold different meetings with the most affected sectors to "jointly address the situation."

Physical and sports activity

As of March 1, it will be possible to carry out physical and sports activity, outdoors and in open sports facilities, without physical contact and in individual modalities and those practiced in pairs, and those directed by professionals, in maximum groups of 4 people per monitor.

The school-age population - Infant and Primary - may participate, outside of the school day, in group sports activities and sports training, with a maximum of 4 athletes, without physical contact and without public.

All sports competitions, activities and events organized by public or private entities, in all sports categories and modalities, will continue to be suspended, except for the foreseen official federative competitions at the regional level.

Closed sports facilities of public or private ownership (pavilions, closed courts, sports centers, gyms, etc.) and in outdoor sports facilities will continue to be closed, the maximum capacity will be 30%.

Finally, sports competitions that are held in sports facilities or outdoors in natural spaces or on public roads, may not participate more than 150 athletes simultaneously.
