The mayor with whom Dénia changed the century, Miguel Ferrer Marsal, has passed away this Wednesday at 86 years of age. He was the first of the two mayors of the municipality of the Popular Party. He achieved the Mayor's Office for the first time for his formation in 1999, taking charge of governing the city during that legislature.

Ferrer managed to break the hegemony of the left in the City Council, which had been divided between the Socialists and the UPV-Bloc in previous legislatures. However, for this he had to resort to an alliance with Gent de Dénia that did not last long, ending his legislature with a minority government.

He was a well-known person in the business world and also within the city's festivals, being the founder in 1980 of the Walies filà, one of the historic ones with which the Moors and Christians of Dénia were created.

Miguel Ferrer was one of the people who reached out to Pepa Font to enter the world of politics, so the current popular number one has shown her shock on social networks when she heard the news. "A great person and a great politician who always supported the project of the Popular Party is leaving, with seriousness and a vision of the State," she shared on her Font's social networks.

Also from the official account of the Popular Party they have joined this memory: "Our most sincere condolences to their family and friends on behalf of the entire PP team."
