Miguel Ferrer Marsal, the first popular mayor of Dénia, dies at the age of 86

The mayor with whom Dénia changed the century, Miguel Ferrer Marsal, has passed away this Wednesday at 86 years of age. He was the first of the two mayors of the municipality of Party. He achieved the Mayor's office for the first time for his formation in 1999, taking charge of governing the city during that legislature.

Ferrer managed to break the hegemony of the left in the City Council, which had been divided between the Socialists and the UPV-Bloc in previous legislatures. However, for this he had to resort to an alliance with Gent of Dénia that did not last too long, ending his legislature with a minority government.

He was a well-known person in the business world and also within the city's festivities, being the founder in 1980 of the filà walies, one of the historical ones with which the Moors and Christians Denia.

Miguel Ferrer was one of the people who reached out to Pepa Font to enter the world of politics, so the current popular number one has shown her shock on social networks upon hearing the news. "She is leaving a great person and a great politician who always supported the project of the Popular Party, with seriousness and vision of the State," she shared on her Font de ella's social networks.
