More than 50 athletes participate in the Condemados al Bordillo adapted football tournament

August 30 from 2019 - 10: 14

Last August 28 Condemned to Bordillo organized the second adapted soccer championship at the IES Maria Ibars de Dénia, a sports activity that the Association has been doing since 2015.

Football appeared in the lives of many of the users of the Association and, indeed, they "gave life". Even for some, until recently, it was unthinkable that they could participate in this sport, which has become one of the most demanded activities by users. Throughout the school year they practice at the Municipal School of Adapted Sports of the City Hall of Dénia and the months of July and August play two games a week.

In the championship more than 50 athletes participated, among volunteers and people with different abilities (six of them in wheelchairs).

Adapted football sports variants made

  • - Soccer without the ball: Sports activity whose main objective is to encourage the participation of people who travel in a wheelchair, being a game that encourages teamwork to the detriment of individualism and makes all its participants see that the best way to get the goal is to work in a group.
  • - Adapted football: Futsal with a series of modified rules so that any user can participate regardless of their abilities.

At the end of the championship, gifts were given to all participants, in recognition of their work to volunteer work and to the delivery of athletes, some of whom have been participating in this activity for many years.

The success of this championship is due to the participation of many people from different fields and with very different levels of practice.

Once again the project is a reality thanks to the collaboration of the Department of Sports and the Department of Social Affairs of the City of Dénia.
